Simon Bateson

Artistic Director

Simon has worked extensively across media, film, community empowerment and outreach for a number of years. He worked as an editor for clients including the BBC and TVC Soho in London from 1998-2002, before going on to develop events and new audiences at the British Museum. Here, he wrote the Museum’s largest ever public funding mission, and led communications around a special year of Africa programming in 2005. From 2006 to 2008, he worked as a filmmaker and community educator with Christian Aid, VSO and the World Development Movement, moving between Scotland, South Africa, Israel-Palestine and Sierra Leone, and working on a number of climate change and economic development campaigns. He founded Take One Action in 2008 to celebrate “the people and movies that are changing the world” and manages the strategy, financing and sustainable development of the organisation.
