Take One Action’s annual film festival will be back in venues across Edinburgh and Glasgow from the 12th to the 23rd of September, with a fantastic line-up of screenings, workshops and events!
Our 11th edition will feature the most acclaimed, impassioned and inspiring international cinema that celebrates our common humanity and our ability to bring about a kinder, fairer, more sustainable world.
This year’s programme offers over 40 films from six continents including 17 feature documentaries (2 of which will be presented as European premieres) and 24 short fiction, animation and documentary films. These will be screened in 12 venues, ranging from a boutique, 2-seater cinema in a refurbished Leith police box to Glasgow’s Kinning Park Complex – as well as Scotland’s foremost independent cinemas, Edinburgh Filmhouse and the Glasgow Film Theatre. Our workshops and events will continue to nourish enquiry, solidarity and changemaking, with new collaborations with the Maryhill Integration Network and Glasgow Women’s Library.
Our Sisters strand, which explores women’s empowerment in all its guises, will remain a strong focus, echoed by our ongoing commitment to champion women in front of and behind the camera, with 60% of the films in our programme having been directed or co-directed by women.
We’ll be renewing our £5.50 ticket offer across all venues for those under 25, while our Community Ticket Fund will continue to make free tickets available for all our screenings to groups and organisations supporting those who experience any kind of barriers – socio-economic, cultural or other – to accessing our events
The full programme will be revealed on Wednesday 14th of August – but if you can’t wait until then, enjoy this sneak preview of our brand new trailer, with music courtesy of fab Scottish musician Be Charlotte.
