Film Synopsis: Just Eat It

Director: Grant Baldwin | Countries of production: Canada, United Kingdom, United States | Year: 2014 | Length: 74 min
Language: English with English subtitles | Age: 12+ years

After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, food lovers Jen and Grant pledge to quit grocery shopping and survive only on what would otherwise be thrown away.

But as Grant’s addictive personality turns full tilt towards food rescue, the ‘thrill of the find’ has unexpected consequences. Just Eat It looks at our systemic obsession with expiry dates, perfect produce and portion sizes, and reveals the core of this seemingly insignificant issue that is having profound consequences around the globe.

Beyond the Screen

The film will be followed by looking at what we can do about food waste from our own homes as the Highland Community Waste Partnership launch the Zero Food waste Challenge.  Hear from Tarradale Primary School about the work they are doing to reduce waste at the school as well as from the Highland Good Food Partnership on community composting projects.
