Tareq, 11, has spent the last year living in the Netherlands on his own, without his parents.
While living in Syria his family were only able to raise enough money to smuggle one child out of the country, so he found himself on a refugee ship that almost sank, just so that he could finally find shelter in his uncle’s home.
“Holland is tiny,” he says, “but there are no bombs here, and you don’t have to flee in the middle of the night”.
At last Tareq is finally reunited with his parents and siblings. He’s happy, of course, but things aren’t always that simple…
This moving short film is a provides and emotional and powerful look at the refuge process for younger viewers.
