On the streets of Casablanca, a pregnant woman is knocking on door after door in search of a job. Unmarried and on the run, Samia is also in desperate need of a roof over her head. Abla, a widowed mother who runs a small bakery from the back of her home, initially turns Samia away – before offering her shelter for the night.

In a society heavily dominated by patriarchal structures, cultures and traditions, the future for Samia and her unborn child is far from certain. Adam pays homage to the power of female solidarity and the desire, shared by so many Moroccan women, to take control of their future.
