Filmed during a media workshop for Syrian girls in Jordan’s Za’atari Refugee Camp, 17-year-old Khaldiya meditates on how the camp has opened up new horizons and given her a sense of courage that she lacked in Syria.
The workshop project run by the Another Kind of Girl Collective aimed to engage Syrian girls in the artistic and technical production of film so that they could then reflect on and share aspects of their lives in their own voices. With cameras, microphones and pens in hand, the girls set out to document their everyday lives – how it looks, feels and sounds from the ground, at the heart of their world.
