When hot-shot US executive Mac is sent to rural Scotland and tasked with acquiring a village desired by the Oil and Gas firm he works for. Once there, however, he meets resistance from the eccentric residents of the village, and comes to love the place and pace of life. Over time he is able to persuade all but one of the townsfolk to sell their land – as task that his boss, played by cinema legend Burt Lancaster, decides to tackle himself.

This much loved feature from Scottish filmmaker Bill Forsyth is a charming and humorous film, considered a national treasure.
