Reporter

Director: Eric Daniel Metzgar | Countries of production: United States | Year: 2009 | Length: 90 min
Language: English

Filmmaker Eric Daniel Metzger’s documentary follows New York Times correspondent Nicholas Kristof – a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner whose reportage brought global attention to the crisis in Darfur – as he travels to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kristof hopes to put the spotlight on the humanitarian plight in the DRC, just as he did with Darfur, yet becomes painfully aware of the flaws of modern journalism, in which high-quality reporting is often subverted by quick-format blog coverage.

The scope of Reporter thus becomes larger than Congo or Kristof, and touches on the very question of humanitarian activism itself.
