Seams and Embers is an elegant BAFTA-nominated stop-motion animation portraying the reflections of a Scottish miner, from youth to the closure of the pits in the 1980s, as young Jim follows his coal mining forefathers into a rough working life underground.

The film was made by Clare Lamond while she was in residence at National Mining Museum Scotland in Newtongrange. It was funded by Creative Scotland’s ‘Iconic Artists in Iconic Places’ project that enables artists to cast a new perspective on museum collections, historic sites, and Scotland’s intangible cultural heritage.
