Suleima is in her late forties and has been part of the Syrian revolution from its beginning. Defying her family and the authorities she remains true to her beliefs, and continues to carry out acts of solidarity towards her fellow citizens.
Twice during sit-ins in Damascus she is detained while trying to rescue protestors from the hands of the security forces and their henchmen. Her reply? “I’d rather die than see them arresting someone without trying to help”
