Somewhere in the Middle East a young woman tends to her comatose husband in their bomb-shelled bedroom. Fighting rages outside while she clings desperately to the hope that he will wake up and recover consciousness.
Director Atiq-Rahimi adapts his own best-selling novel The Patience Stone in this feature, where patience is not what it seems. Gradually we see the woman turn the tables on the patriarchal society she has been born into, and confound the conflict deep-rooted in the men around her. Free to speak openly for the first time, she begins to reveal her deepest secrets and desires, setting the stage for a breathless climax.
