The banana has been part of our cultural history for centuries and a common part of our diet. However due to monocropping the artificial flavour of banana is actually based on a fruit that no longer exists.
In this smart and colourful animation Ana Pérez López stitches together a series anecdotes and ruminations on the banana to explore the modern history of this exceptionally popular fruit. The effect is at once informative and ephemeral – a playful reflection on the peculiarities of taste, capitalism and culture as well as the past, present and future global food politics.
