SMK offer tips and solutions for people who are looking to get into campaigning, including how to build a team, make a plan, speak the truth, map your issues, build alliances and make tactics.
The Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) is here to support individuals, groups and communities to have the skills and confidence to speak up and take effective action on issues that matter to them. We do this by connecting, informing and supporting campaigners. All our work is focused on empowering people to have a voice. The bulk of our work is focused on those who are new to campaigning, are marginalised, have few resources and cannot get the support they need elsewhere.
Free The Change is a bold but simple invitation to help you start or join a small “change-maker” support group where you live, work or play. It’s also a network linking similar groups across Scotland for wider connection, inspiration and skill-sharing. It is curated by Simon Bateson, Founder/Creative Director of Take One Action – in response to thousands of conversations we’ve been part of over the last decade. Conversations about what helps turn both well-meaning concern and mis-spent energy into sustainable, system-changing lives: lived for the common good.
Global Justice Now is a UK-based anti-poverty campaigning organisation, with a worldwide reputation for tackling hard-hitting, controversial issues. We investigate, expose and challenge government policies and corporate actions that harm vulnerable communities in some of the poorest countries. In the UK, Global Justice Now has over 70 local groups supported by our staff, who lobby decision-makers, organise public campaigning and produce robust research to win change for the world’s poorest people. We believe a fairer world is possible.
The Co-operative Group is a unique business democratically run and owned by its members to meet their common needs and aspirations. In turn, the strength and commitment of our membership is vital in helping us achieve our goals. So instead of blindly chasing profits like businesses controlled by shareholders, we are able to steer our business in a more responsible direction: from tackling climate change to championing fair wages for growers across the world.
